<p class="paragraph" style="margin: 0in; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;"><span class="eop" style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">The Safety Director is responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with our operations, and through a strong safety culture, provides a safe work environment for all employees at Pacific Rim Mechanical.</span></span></p> <p class="paragraph" style="margin: 0in; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;"><span class="eop" style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">As an industry expert, the Safety Director oversees compliance with all aspects of health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs, and Federal and State regulations.</span></span></p> <p class="paragraph" style="margin: 0in; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;"><span class="eop" style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">The Safety Director leads the Safety Department in implementing these safety programs through best practices, policies, and procedures throughout the organization.</span></span></p>
Typical Duties

<ul> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Promotes the Company’s safety vision, culture, policies, and procedures by implementing the industry’s best practices.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Oversees Safety Training for all business units.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Manage safety related incidents and claims to minimize loss exposure, as it pertains to Worker’s Compensation, General Liability and Automobile Incidents.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Review and approve safety related field documents.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Oversees Safety Department site visit/inspections of facilities, work areas and equipment.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Interface with OSHA and other industry personnel in the resolution and proactive identification of safety related incidents and practices. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Responsible for all safety record keeping and reporting procedures. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Lead a Safety Committee to include managers and partners at all levels to help foster a strong safety culture from top to bottom.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Updating safety policy/procedure revisions when necessary.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Lead safety orientation for all new hires. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Verify all sub-contractor activities adhere to the Company safety program. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Monitors and reports on relevant changes in applicable OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) and environmental regulations/requirements.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Oversee safety training program by identifying needs and creating training to address gaps. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Develop professional safety relationships and participate in industry peer meetings and professional organizations.</span></li> </ul>
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience

<ul> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in Health, Safety, Environmental or related field.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or other designation through BCSP </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Minimum 10 years of experience in the safety field, with majority of the experience on major commercial construction projects</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Minimum 5 years’ experience managing & leading a structured safety program.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">In depth technical knowledge of construction related OSHA, federal, state, and local regulatory standards, and ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective practices.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">OSHA 500 certification preferred. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Demonstrate knowledge of various computer software programs, applications </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to maintain a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to work independently without direct supervision. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when handling high stress situations.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include varying shifts, short notice assignments, emergencies, nights, weekends, and overtime (scheduled and unscheduled), as required. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position within the complex nature of large-scale commercial construction.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in creating positive working relationships to advance the success of safety culture.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Ability to teach classes as needed (i.e., general safety toolbox talks, in-depth certification classes)</span></li> </ul>
